Canberra Pinot Gris

This Pinot Gris was carefully selected from a vineyard in Murrumbateman, which has a distinctive soil profile of friable clay loams over decomposing granites. The persistent cool evenings coupled with the free draining nature of the soil provides an excellent site for growing magnificent cool climate fruit.

2011 was cooler than average, allowing varieties such as Pinot Gris to show great varietal expression. The Canberra Pinot Gris was fermented in old French barrels and matured for 6 months on lees prior to bottling.
The barrel fermentation provides an interesting textural component to the wine, which displays nashi and exotic lychee flavours and aromas.
