2017 The Long Road Chardonnay
A perfect vintage across all regions and varieties, long even-ripening conditions produced beautiful fruity and structural wines for our Long Road labels, with excellent flavours and natural acidity.
Tasting notes:
Delightfully lifted nose, showing white peach, lemon curd and brioche aromas. The palate is subtle, mineral and crisp with a perfect acidity.
The vanilla oak flavours from barrel fermentation in French barriques (20% new) are subtle and perfectly integrated. The finish is long and fresh.
Winemaking:
Whole bunch-pressed directly to a selection of French oak barriques. The alcoholic fermentation was carried out with a selected yeast. Only 10% of the wine went through malolactic fermentation. This wine was then aged for 10 months in barrels on full lees. It was then fined, cold stabilised and sterile filtered before bottling.
