2021 The Long Road Chardonnay
The Spring was relatively wet and mild. The picking occurred in February after a couple of months of dry and warm weather.
Lfted nose, showing nectarine, honeysuckle and brioche aromas. The palate is subtle with lemon curd and biscuit flavours. The vanilla notes from barrel fermentation in French barriques and puncheons are subtle and perfectly integrated. The finish is long and crisp due to the natural acidity.
The grapes are sourced from the Tumbarumba Maragle vineyard (450m). Destemmed and lightly crushed, the grapes are pressed into a selection of French oak barriques and puncheons. The alcoholic fermentation was carried out with a selected yeast. This wine was then aged for 8 months in barrels on full lees. No malolactic fermentation. It was then fined, cold stabilized and sterile filtered before bottling.
