2019 Cullarin Block 71 Syrah
The Syrah grapes are grown at our Cullarin Estate vineyard, located at Lake George. Cullarin is the oldest Canberra District vineyard, established by Dr Edgar Riek in 1971. The vineyard sits at the base of the Cullarin mountain range 750M ASL.
Tasting Notes
Light red with bright red hues. This wine has lovely youthful and vibrant cherry and spicy aromas and flavours, leading to a bright medium bodied structure with silky tannins, medium length, and persistent natural acidity.
Winemaking Notes
The grapes were hand-picked first week of April, fully destemmed with a high proportion of whole berries and fermented in stainless steel tanks with a selected yeast to dryness. The wine was then put into 1 to 3 year old French Oak Barriques to undergo the malolactic fermentation and aged for 16 months. The wine was sterile filtered before bottling. No fining.
