The grapes are sourced from our Cullarin vineyard located at Lake George, in the Canberra District region at 780m ASL. The Montrachet clone of Chardonnay planted at Cullarin by Dr Edgar Riek in 1971 is very rare in Australia.

Tasting Notes

Pale yellow colour with green hues. Vibrant lemon aromas in harmony with the minerals, and the subdued brioche notes from the French oak barrel fermentation and maturation on full yeast lees. The palate is mineral, crisp, and long due to a perfect natural acidity.

Drink : 2023 - 2027

Winemaking Notes

The winemaking is kept rather simple to express the cool climate and granitic soil origins of the Montrachet clone. After careful selection, the fruit was handpicked, pressed directly to French oak barriques (5% new) for an alcoholic fermentation with a selected yeast. 20% of malolactic fermentation occurred. The wine was then matured on full lees in oak for 8 months and stirred monthly. Filtration then bottling occurred in December 2022.
